Report on Managment Bord of SEERC held in- Priština, Kosovo
In May 2026, NC CIGRE Kosovo successfully hosted in Pristina CIGRE SEERC Management Board meeting.
Following the unanimous approval of the minutes from the previous meeting in Istanbul, the SEERC Management Board adopted several key decisions regarding the modernization and future activities of the region.
Due to the outdated of the www.cigre-seerc.org platform, the MB approved a complex but necessary installation new platform i.e. Joomla 5.x. This project will be executed in phases to ensure the long-term stability and security of the digital platform and to reduce risks as much as possible.
Regarding technical activities, the MB decided to abolish the previous regional working groups due to low member interest. A new, more dynamic model will be introduced, where individual countries can propose technical topics by organizing dedicated workshops and inviting experts from CIGRE SEERC and global CIGRE. The only permanent group will be the RWG History, chaired by Krešimir Bakič, which will remain responsible for organizing the History Panels at the biennial SEERC conferences.
Furthermore, the newly organized Task Force presented several project proposals for the Innovation and Education Fund from the national committees of Georgia, Italy, and Slovenia, concluding with a recommendation that members submit as many applications to the fund as possible.
The MB also reviewed the successful outcomes of the recent History Panels held in Vienna and Sarajevo. For the upcoming panel in Croatia (Cavtat, May 2028), members are expected to propose topics—covering grid history, standardization, or notable pioneers—by the next meeting in Paris this August, where a maximum of three country lectures will be finalized. Türkiye has already put forward its candidacy.
Finally, regarding the Country Energy Status Questionnaire, the current leadership (NC Croatia) will formulate specific new topics if needed. Additionally, the next CIGRE SEERC Workshop, focusing on the Resilience of Electrical Grid, is scheduled for January 2027 at La Sapienza University in Rome and will cover critical issues such as cybersecurity, physical threats, blackouts, and storage technologies. All remaining details for both the workshop and the history panel will be finalized at the upcoming Management Board meeting in Paris.
